Evaluation of Bussed Education Implementation With Teachers’ and Students’ Opinions: Example of Bozova District

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate bussed education system from the view of teachers and students, to make essential suggestions in order to increase bussed education’s effectiveness. It is thought that the result of this study will detect the problems faced in bussed educating primary schools and it will contribute to literature. As a data collection tool developed by the researcher structured interview form and "Bussing Primary Education Teacher Questionnaire", "Transported Primary Education Student Survey" is used in exploratory design study which include quantitative and qualitative research. Research group is the primary school which serves in 2011-2012 education year in Bozova, Şanlıurfa as dual and bussed education from six different villages. Data of research is obtained from 526 students and 60 teachers and data of the interviews is obtained from 24 students and 13 teachers. According to results of the research
the majority of the students asserted that they like bussed education by saying that they couldn’t continue their education without this system. Although teachers think that bussed education application provides equality of opportunity and plays a big role in bringing girls to school, they don't find it right depending on the problems in the application process. Moreover teachers and students have some problems with bussed education system, central school of bussed education, parents, transportation vehicle and the driver.
Besides, students declared that they have problems in friendship relationships and teacher declared that they have problems with guidance tasks
