Abstract

The goal of this research is to develop a scale towards the determination of Social Media Teacher – Student Interaction levels. The study group of the research consists of 400 teachers in different branches and grades serving in Konya province. In order to research the validity of the scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, material-factor total correlation, adjusted correlation and distinctiveness of materials are calculated. In order to research the reliability of the scale, internal consistency and stability levels of the scale are calculated. For the evaluation of the validity of six factor structure emerged as a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (AFA), confirmatory factor analysis (DFA) is performed. As a result of DFA, the consistency values of Social Media Teacher – Student Interaction Scale are analysed primarily. The fit indexes obtained as a result of DFA are as follows: χ2(sd=512, N=400)= 3242,55, p<.000, RMSEA= 0,098, SRMR= 0,096, GFI= 0,81, AGFI= 0,89, CFI= 0,86, NNFI= 0,83 and IFI= 0,96. In addition to DFA, in order to evaluate the reliability levels of the grades obtained via Social Media Teacher – Student Interaction Scale, Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficients which are calculated based on item analysis are observed. Coefficients are found to be 0,85 for the whole of the scale. As a consequence; Social Media Teacher – Student Interaction Scale is a 5 point likert scale consisting of 34 items six sub-dimensions. The analyses demonstrate that the scale is valid and credible in terms of measuring the interaction levels of teachers and students during their social media usage.
