Investigation of the Images of “Woman” of Women Who Have Children in Preschool Education with Art Therapy and Drama Techniques

Abstract

Since the existence of life, women have been struggling for being themselves into being. By nteracting with the social life, women try to improve and transform their personality in order to become a subject. However, as a result of the images of women that are produced and imposed by the society, she ends up with being an object once again. In order to overcome the problem of objectification of woman, identification of the images and evoking awareness towards the social environment that imposes on those
images are necessary. The first objective of this study is to identify images that have a strong impact on women’s perception of themselves. The second objective is to increase awareness towards these images.To do these, a creative drama and art therapy workshop was carried out with 13 women and data has collected through diaries, observation of and semi structured interviews with these women. Qualitative research methods were conducted in order to identify and assess deeply the images that are shaping women’s perception of themselves. The study finds that (i) women’s perceptions of themselves are in accordant with gender roles of the society, (ii) that the women think the support of their spouses as well as the state are necessary in order to make changes in their lives, (iii) that they think they are divided, but instead they should get united, (iv) that even though they think they are subjected to exploitation in many circumstances, they feel quite strong.
