Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop, implement and evaluate a drama-based Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) workshop targeting the standards listed in the national curriculum for the instruction of ICT and Programming, and thereby offer an alternative method of instruction for ICT teachers. A 12-week ICT drama workshop was designed for the fifth grade, based on the areas of learning, and the standards defined in the current curriculum. The workshop was tried out with 14 students in a public middle school in Istanbul. Students' learning was measured using a knowledge test at the beginning and at the end of the workshop. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the two instances of the knowledge test. In addition, students were asked to respond to open ended self-evaluation questions. The results from the latter showed that perceived creativity, collaborative work and communication had also increased as a result of the workshop
