Abstract

The most crucial element of succeeding in mainstreaming, described as educating children with special needs in regular
classrooms in the literature, is providing special education services to children with special needs. In this article, it was aimed
to investigate the opinions of volunteer pre-service teachers on one of the applications of individual support services. These
services were supported with the collaboration of Ankara University, Prime Ministry Administration for Disabilities, and
Education Volunteers of Turkey Foundation. Eight volunteer pre-service teachers participated in this research. The volunteer
pre-service teachers declared that the individual support services provide multiple benefits for students with special needs for
their academic and social skills. In the lights of these findings, it was suggested that the non-governmental organizations
should increase their support for mainstreaming and Ministry of Education should universalize the support service
application.
