Early Childhood Teachers' Perspectives About the Effect of Media on Children’s Eating Habits and Nutritional Disorders

Abstract

Considering the impact of the media on the individual's life in recent years, harmful eating habits and nutritional disorders are just a few of them. The qualitative research method was used in this study, which was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of the media with the eye of preschool teachers on the children's eating habits and nutritional disorders .The data were obtained by a semistructured interview technique with 12 pre-school teachers working in Ankara. There are 7 themes according to the analyzed by content analysis technique. As a result of data analysis it was found that the pre-school teachers had thought attitudes of family about eating and the media affect on eating habits and nutritional disorders of children. Suggestions to develop healthy eating habits of children, such as the planning of projects aiming to raise awareness about healthy nutrition, media literacy training for families
and the organization of trainings to provide family participation were given.
