Examination of Relationship between Well-being of Teacher candidates and Levels of Social Problem Solving Skill

Main objective of this study is to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the
well-being of teacher candidate’s and their skills to solve problems. This study was conducted using relational
scanning method. Research group consisted of teacher candidates studying at Ahmet Keleşoğlu education
faculty. In this study, Subjective Well-being Scale developed by Dost (2004) and Social Problem Solving
Inventory-short form developed by D’Zurilla and his colleagues were utilized. Analysis of data was performed
using SPSS 15 for windows (2006) program. While there is a positive relationship between well-being of teacher
candidates and sub-dimensions of social problem solving approachng the problem in a positive way, rational
problem solving, there is a negative relationship between the well-being of teacher candidates and sub-dimension
of approaching the problem negatively.
