Abstract

The aim of this research is to compare the students’ performance according to their attitudes towards computer, computer familiarity and gender; and to compare the psychometric properties of a general ability test which is administered in paper-pencil and computer based form. The study group includes a total of 136 primary school students who live in central district of Eskisehir province. A 60-item general ability test, which includes verbal and computational reasoning sub-tests, the attitude towards computer scale, and the computer familiarity scale were administered to the study group. The findings showed that paper-pencil and computer based forms were highly equal and there was no significant difference between students’ computer based test performances in terms of computer familiarity and gender. On the other hand, there was a significant difference between students’ computer based test performances in their attitudes towards computers.
