The Effect of Conflict Resolution Program on Middle School Students’ Conflict Resolution Skills, Trait Anger and Anger Expression Styles

The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of conflict resolution program on middle school students’ conflict resolution skills, trait anger and anger expression styles. This research has been conducted in a middle school governed by the Ministry of National Education during the educational year of 2015-2016. Both the experimental and the control group consist of 12 students. In this research nonequivalent control group model of quasi-experimental design has been used.. The psychoeducational program for conflict resolution has been applied to the students in the experimental group for five weeks, for two hours each week. No training has been provided for the students in the control group. 'Conflict Resolution Skills Scale” and “Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scales” were used to collect data in the study. The Mann Whitney U test was used for the significance of the difference
between pre-test post-test difference scores of the experimental and control groups. According to the findings obtained as a result of the research; the conflict resolution psycho-education program applied to adolescents’ increases collaboration and accommodation scores; has been effective in reducing the forcing scores. In addition, the conflict resolution psycho-education program was effective to reduce students' trait anger levels, anger in style, and anger out style scores; and to increase anger control scores.
