Abstract

Psychology and cinema try to focus on human behaviors although they have different
characteristics. They are fields that benefit from each other. Erikson’s Theory of Psychosocial Development is
one of the most important approaches to explain life-span development. Eight stages were defined in the Theory
of Psychosocial Development. Individuals experience crises in each stage and they have to solve these crises.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the Bal (Honey), Süt (Milk) and Yumurta (Egg) movies directed by
Semih Kaplanoğlu through Erikson’s industry versus inferiority, identity versus identity diffusion and intimacy
versus isolation stages. Document analysis was used in this study. Results showed that the films Bal, Süt and
Yumurta that represent childhood, adolescence and young adulthood periods overlap with Erikson’s stages
