The Effect of the Perception of Primary School Teachers’ Quality of Work Life on Work Engagement

Abstract

The aim of this research was to investigate the perceptions of work quality life and work engagement of teachers who work in primary schools and the relationship between variables. The relational model is used in the research. The study group consists of 262 teachers who work in Altındağ district in Ankara province in during 2014-2015 academic year. The research datas collected with “Quality of Work Life Scale” and “Work Engagement Scale”. In the analysis of datas, standard deviation, percent, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis was performed. At research, it has been identified thar the perception of the quality of work life is relatively moderate and the work engagement is relatively high. There was found mostly significant lower and moderate level relations between the dimensions of variables. In addition not to experience stress in the work environment, relationships with colleagues and job satisfaction and encourage have been found to be significant predictors of vigor, dedication and absorption. According to research findings, it is thought to increase the quality of work life and work engagement to apply social support activities in the work place and to improve the teachers’ salaries.
